Ingredients

  • 12-16 large shelled and deveined prawns
  • 2 cups cooked rice
  • 1 head of lettuce
  • 1 tomato
  • 1/2 red onion
  • 1/2 cup mayonnaise
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 1 tablespoon chopped fresh parsley
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon paprika
  • 1/4 cup breadcrumbs
  • 1 tablespoon melted butter

Instructions

1. Preparing the Prawns

Preheat the oven to 200°C. Take 12-16 large prawns and thoroughly clean them. Once clean, pat them dry with a paper towel then set them aside.

2. Preparing the Rice and Lettuce Salad

Cook 2 cups of rice in salted water according to package instructions. Then, using a sieve, drain the rice and transfer it to a bowl.

While the rice is cooking, prepare the lettuce salad. Take 1 head of lettuce, wash it and chop it into bite-sized pieces. Slice 1 tomato and 1/2 red onion very thinly. Keep these ingredients aside for later.

3. Preparing the Sauce

In a small bowl, mix together 1/2 cup of mayonnaise, 1 tablespoon of lemon juice, 1 tablespoon of chopped fresh parsley, 1/2 teaspoon of garlic powder, 1/4 teaspoon of black pepper, and 1/2 teaspoon of paprika. Stir the ingredients together until you have a smooth sauce.

4. Coating the Prawns with Breadcrumbs

In a separate bowl, mix 1/4 cup of breadcrumbs and 1 tablespoon of melted butter together. Take the prawns and coat each one with the breadcrumb mixture, ensuring that it is evenly coated.

5. Baking the Prawns

Take a baking dish and grease it with cooking spray. Place the coated prawns into the baking dish and put it in the preheated oven. Bake for 10-12 minutes, until the prawns are golden brown and cooked through.

6. Assembling the Dish

Once the prawns are cooked, take them out of the oven and allow them to cool for a few minutes. In the meantime, take the bowl of rice and mix it with some of the prepared sauce. Place the mixed rice onto a serving dish. Top the rice with the cooked prawns.

In a separate bowl, mix together the chopped lettuce, sliced tomato, and sliced red onion. Add the remaining sauce to this bowl and toss the salad gently.

7. Serving the dish

Once the prawns are plated, serve the Crevettes papillons with Riz and Salade alongside the lettuce salad.

There you have it - a delicious, simple and quick seafood dish to impress your friends and family! Bon appétit!
