Hey y’all, it’s time to get cooking with a delicious recipe straight from my Portuguese roots! Today, I’m sharing with you my favorite recipe for Rissoles de viande, also known as Rissois de carne.
Ingredients:
- 1 pound ground beef or pork
- 1 onion, finely chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1/2 cup water
- 1/2 cup milk
- 1/2 cup flour
- 1 egg, beaten
- 1 tablespoon parsley, finely chopped
- 1 tablespoon butter
- ½ teaspoon nutmeg
- Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions:
- In a large frying pan, heat the olive oil over medium heat.
- Add the onion and garlic and sauté until the onion is translucent.
- Add the ground beef or pork and cook until browned.
- Add the water, salt, and pepper and let simmer for 15 minutes.
- In a separate saucepan, melt the butter and add the flour, stirring constantly.
- Add the milk little by little, stirring constantly to ensure no lumps form.
- Add the nutmeg, salt, and pepper.
- Add the egg and the parsley to the meat mixture and mix well.
- Add the flour mixture to the meat mixture and mix well.
- Let the mixture cool for at least 30 minutes in the refrigerator.
- Preheat the oven to 400°F and grease a baking sheet.
- Form the mixture into small balls and place them on the baking sheet.
- Bake for 20 minutes or until golden brown.
