Oh yo my peeps, have I got a treat for ya! Check out these dope brunch recipes that will have you drooling before you even take a bite. I’m talking waffles, pancakes, eggs benedict, fried chicken and biscuits, and so much more.
Here’s a taste of what’s cookin'
Fried Chicken and Biscuits
Man oh man, this is one of my all-time favorites. First up, we gotta make the biscuits. Here’s what you’ll need:
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 Tbsp baking powder
- 1/4 tsp baking soda
- 1 tsp salt
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, cold
- 3/4 cup buttermilk, cold
Mix together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt. Then cut in the butter until the mixture is crumbly. Add the buttermilk and mix until the dough comes together. Roll out the dough and cut out the biscuits. Bake at 425°F for 15-20 minutes until they’re golden brown.
Now it’s time for the star of the show, fried chicken. This is what you’ll need:
- 4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts, pounded thin
- 1 cup buttermilk
- 1 tsp hot sauce
- 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 tsp salt
- 1 tsp garlic powder
- 1 tsp smoked paprika
- 1/2 tsp black pepper
- Oil for frying
Mix together the buttermilk and hot sauce. Add the chicken and let it marinate for at least an hour. Mix together the flour, salt, garlic powder, smoked paprika, and black pepper. Take the chicken out of the buttermilk and coat it in the flour mixture. Heat up some oil in a skillet over medium-high heat. Fry the chicken for 5-6 minutes on each side until it’s golden brown.
Put it all together and you’ve got yourself a banging brunch dish that’ll knock your socks off.
Waffles
Who doesn’t love waffles? Here’s what you’ll need:
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 3 tsp baking powder
- 1 Tbsp sugar
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 2 eggs
- 1 1/2 cups milk, room temperature
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 1/3 cup unsalted butter, melted and cooled
Mix together the flour, baking powder, sugar, and salt. In a separate bowl, beat together the eggs, milk, and vanilla extract. Add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients and mix until smooth. Add the melted butter and mix until combined. Cook the waffles in a waffle iron according to the manufacturer’s instructions.
Serve your waffles with some butter and syrup, or get creative and add some fried chicken, bacon, or even ice cream.
Eggs Benedict
This is a classic brunch dish that always hits the spot. Here’s what you’ll need:
- 4 English muffins, split and toasted
- 8 slices Canadian bacon
- 8 eggs
- 1/4 cup white vinegar
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
- 3 egg yolks
- 1 Tbsp lemon juice
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Parsley for garnish (optional)
Toast the English muffins and cook the Canadian bacon in a skillet until it’s browned and crispy. Poach the eggs by bringing a pot of water to a simmer and adding the white vinegar. Crack the eggs into the water and cook for 2-3 minutes until the whites are set but the yolks are still runny. Remove the eggs with a slotted spoon and drain off any excess water.
To make the hollandaise sauce, whisk together the egg yolks and lemon juice in a bowl. Set the bowl over a pot of simmering water and whisk until the mixture starts to thicken. Slowly drizzle in the melted butter while whisking constantly until the sauce thickens to a nice consistency. Season the sauce with salt and pepper.
To assemble the dish, place a slice of Canadian bacon on top of each English muffin half. Place a poached egg on top of the Canadian bacon, and spoon some hollandaise sauce over the egg. Garnish with parsley if desired.
There you have it folks, just a few examples of the kinds of brunch foods you can whip up at home. So grab some friends, crank up the music, and get cookin'.
